A screen-free setting 📵🌿

At Bumble & Bloom, children spend their days playing, exploring and connecting — not watching screens.

Protecting growing brains

Under-fives are wiring up language, memory, movement and emotional control. Real-world play, stories and conversation build these pathways far more effectively than passive screen time.

More connection, less distraction

Without screens in the room, children and adults make eye contact, take turns, share jokes and read facial expressions — the building blocks of confidence and friendship.

Active bodies, busy hands

We spend lots of time outdoors, on daily outings, doing messy play and using our whole bodies. Movement and sensory exploration are essential for coordination, sleep and wellbeing.

Better rest and routines

Screen-free days help children settle into calmer routines, fall asleep more easily and wake ready to play. We also avoid screens during pick-up so every goodbye is warm and present.

Our promise to families

We do not use screens or hand-held devices as entertainment or a calming tool during childcare hours.

What the guidance says

Government advice for children under five recommends avoiding screens during meals and for an hour before bed, keeping screen use limited, and making sure any screen time is shared and interactive rather than passive. For children under two, the guidance advises no screen time at all.
