Parents leave the child at the door with a quick goodbye. We find that short, cheerful goodbyes help children settle faster and feel secure.
A warm welcome inside
Once inside, your child is welcomed by name. We help them hang up their coat, change their shoes and find something calm to do while they settle in.
Settle into the morning
Children join the group for free play, story time or a quiet activity. We keep the first few minutes gentle so every child starts the day at their own pace.
A gentle goodbye is a good goodbye
We know drop-off can feel big for little ones — and for grown-ups too. Our routine is designed to be quick, kind and consistent, so children learn that Bumble & Bloom is a safe, happy place to be while you are away.
Settling in
We want every child to feel truly at home before their regular sessions begin. Each child starts with two settling-in sessions, each lasting two hours, giving them time to get to know the staff, explore the setting and begin making friends with their peers.
Once we see how they are getting on, we can either gradually increase their hours or move straight into their usual routine — whichever feels right for your child and for you.
Quick tips for a smooth start
- Say goodbye with a smile and a clear 'I'll be back later'
- Keep handover brief — long goodbyes often make separation harder
- Let us know if mornings have been tricky at home so we can help
- Bring a comfort item for the first few sessions if it helps
- Arrive at roughly the same time each day to build routine
- Trust that children usually settle within minutes of a calm goodbye
