A Bumble & Bloom story about making new friends — and about how bees and flowers help each other grow.
A brand new adventure
One sunny morning, a little bee called Poppy held tightly to Mummy's hand. Today was her very first day at Bumble & Bloom. Her tummy felt a tiny bit wobbly, but her heart felt a tiny bit sparkly too.
A warm welcome
The door with pictures of buzzy bees and flowers swung open, and out came Charlotte, with the kindest smile Poppy had ever seen. 'Welcome to Bumble & Bloom, little one,' she whispered. 'We've been waiting just for you.'
New friends
Inside, Finn, Rosie, Ada and Theo smiled. 'Come and play!' they called. Poppy cuddled a doll, rolled cars along the road mat and played in the pretend shops with her new friends. Then they took turns sliding down the slide. Before long, Poppy was giggling too.
Water play in the garden
Next, they went into the garden. Poppy poured water through the colourful funnels and watched it trickle into the buckets. At the potion table, her friends mixed water, petals and leaves. 'A magical flower potion!' they laughed. Charlotte stayed close as they poured, stirred and explored together.
The busy little bees
'What are the bees doing?' Poppy asked. Charlotte smiled. 'They're helping the flowers,' she said. 'They carry sunshine-yellow pollen from one flower to the next, so more flowers can grow. And the flowers give the bees sweet nectar. They look after each other.'
Growing together
'That's a bit like us,' said Charlotte. 'At Bumble & Bloom, we're all little bees and little flowers. When we share, and help, and cheer each other on… that's how we grow.' Poppy looked at her new friends and felt her heart puff up warm as toast.
See you tomorrow
When Mummy came back, Poppy waved her painting proudly. 'I made a friend AND a sunflower!' Charlotte gave her a little wave. 'See you tomorrow, little bee.' And Poppy skipped all the way home — already excited to bloom again.
